The story of Eco Trip Asia was born on the bustling, chaotic streets of the Hanoi Old Quarter. Back in 2018, our founder, then a passionate local tour guide navigating travelers through standard routes, noticed a missing link. People were snapping photos of historic sights, but they were missing the heartbeat of the city — the warmth of the alleyway vendors, the rumble of passing trains, and the local stories shared over morning coffee.
Having spent over 12,000+ hours guiding conscious travelers through the historic 36 streets, he realized that true Hanoi sustainable travel is not about passive sightseeing. It is an immersive, raw connection that respects the local community while leaving a piece of Hanoi permanently embedded in the traveler’s heart.
Standard mass tourism often leads to crowded tour buses and surface-level interactions. We wanted to design an alternative—a community-based tourism initiative that directly supports small micro-vendors, local families, and historic preservation. We wanted to invite conscious travelers to step off the bus, get onto a vintage military vehicle, and experience the alleys exactly as we do.
