1. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The University Guidance Counselling role is responsible for guiding and supporting our middle and high school students (both bilingual and international tracks) through every stage of their university preparation and application journey. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented, and student-centered professional with a deep understanding of international university admissions, particularly in the US/UK/Australia/South Korea, and a passion for mentoring young adults.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Comprehensive Student Guidance & Profile Management:

  • Develop and maintain a detailed, up-to-date profile for each student, tracking academic performance (GPA/transcripts), standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS), extracurricular activities, project work, and application progress.
  • Create, monitor, and update a personalized university application roadmap for each student in middle school and high school, adapting strategies as needed.
  • Provide direct application support, including guidance on Common App completion, essay brainstorming and editing, and financial aid applications (e.g., CSS Profile, FAFSA).

Extracurricular & Student Project Mentorship:

  • Actively mentor students in identifying, initiating, and succeeding in meaningful projects and extracurricular activities that align with their interests and university goals.
  • Research and disseminate information on relevant competitions, summer programs, internships, and other enrichment opportunities to students and parents.

University Relations & Networking:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with university admissions officers worldwide.
  • Organize and host university admissions visits, workshops, and information sessions at the school.
  • Plan and execute annual university tours, including one local (Vietnam) and one international trip for students.
  • Negotiate and secure partnership programs, including scholarships and direct admission pathways, with a range of colleges and universities.

Curriculum Development & Teaching:

  • Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive College & Career Readiness curriculum tailored for middle school and high school students across different academic tracks.
  • Co-teach and deliver workshops on topics such as university selection, application strategy, essay writing, and interview skills.
  • Collaborate with advisors & subject teachers to integrate college readiness topics into the broader curriculum.

Parent & Stakeholder Communication:

  • Conduct regular parent meetings according to the school's schedule to discuss student progress, roadmaps, and the university application process.
  • Facilitate monthly workshops for parents and students on key topics in university planning.
  • Ensure clear, consistent, and proactive communication with all stakeholders.

Other Roles as Assigned: Support the overall operations of the school by completing administrative tasks as assigned.

3. KEY DELIVERABLES & PERFORMANCE METRICS:

  • Student Management: 100% of assigned students have an updated, personalized roadmap and comprehensive application profile.
  • Parent Engagement: Meet with 100% of Grade 11 parents (and other grades as required) at least once per academic year.
  • Event Management:
  • Attend one major fall and one major spring university fair with students.
  • Organize one major career fair or career exploration event annually.
  • Execute one local and one international school tour per year.
  • Curriculum Development: Build and continuously refine the College & Career Readiness curricula for middle school and high school.

4. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in university counseling, college admissions, school counseling, or international education.
  • Strong knowledge of international university admissions, especially in the US, UK, Australia, and South Korea.
  • Experience with Common App, UCAS, SAT/ACT, IELTS/TOEFL, scholarships, and financial aid is preferred.
  • Experience working with middle and high school students, preferably in an international or bilingual school.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Fluent English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and student-centered.
