The KU Leuven ASEAN Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student from Southeast Asia who wishes to pursue a master's or advanced master's degree at KU Leuven.
KU Leuven is committed to making higher education accessible to students from all backgrounds, regardless of their financial circumstances.

- Eligible Countries: Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
- University: KU Leuven (Belgium).
- Study Level: Master's programmes.
- Application Deadline: January 15, 2026, 23:59 CET (for the 2026-2027 academic year).

- Warning: Students enrolled in the following programmes for the academic year 2026-2027 are not eligible for the KU Leuven ASEAN Scholarship: preparatory programmes, bridging programmes and distance learning programmes.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
- The student has a high level of academic performance and potential. Excellent study results are reflected in a high Grade Point Average (GPA), as indicated on the transcript of records.
- Previous degree(s) should have been obtained at a higher education institution outside Flanders. International students who have completed a credit mobility programme at a host Flemish higher education institution are still eligible for a KU Leuven ASEAN Scholarship.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Regardless of the minimum score required by the programme, applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate a good knowledge and command of English. These are the accepted English language tests:
1. Online TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): minimum overall score of 94.
2. IELTS (International English Language Testing System): minimum overall score of 7.
3. Cambridge CPE (Cambridge Proficiency English): minimum level C2.
Warning: The language test must be taken before the application deadline of 15 January. Language test results can be added after the deadline.
DISQUALIFYING CONDITIONS
- Current enrolment: Students already enrolled at a Flemish higher education institution are not eligible. The only exception to this is for international students who, when they apply for a scholarship in the spring of 2026, are enrolled in a specific preparatory programme to start their master’s programme in September 2026.
- Other scholarships: Students are not allowed to combine the KU Leuven ASEAN Scholarship with another scholarship from KU Leuven or with an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
