Concordia University is a public English-language research university located in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1974 with the merger of Loyola College and Sir George Williams University, Concordia is one of the three universities in Quebec where English is the primary language of instruction (the others being McGill and Bishop's). As of the 2024–2025 academic year, there were 48,657 students enrolled in credit and non-credit courses at Concordia, making the university among the largest in Canada by enrolment.

• Master’s: 
  • Cannot have completed more than 3 full-time terms (one year) in May 1 following the application deadline.
  • Can apply before starting the program.
• Doctorate: 
  • Cannot have completed more than 9 full-time terms (three year) in May 1 following the application deadline.
  • Can apply before starting the program
• Postdoctoral: 
  • Must have obtained PhD no more than two years before the competition
  • Your postdoctoral research must be conducted in an institution other than the one that granted the doctoral degree.
• Short-term research: 
  • Must have obtained PhD no more than five years before the deadline for the competition.
  • Technical and university students or researchers.
• The short-term research or professional development must be conducted in an institution other than the one at which you were enrolled at the time of application.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

• Master’s: $20,000 per year, up to two years. 
• Doctoral: $25,000 per year, up to three years.
• Postdoctoral: $35,000 per one year.
• Short-term research: $3,000 per month, up to four months.

• If preselected by the SGS Graduate Awards Committee, you will be notified in late September
