BYU Independent Study is an accredited program* that operates in BYU Continuing Education and is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit distance education providers. We expand educational opportunities for students worldwide and our 470+ courses have been accessed from all 50 states and more than 105 countries.
BYU provides a limited number of university scholarship opportunities for exceptional students. Scholarships are awarded monthly to university students not enrolled at Brigham Young University. Applications must be received before the first day of the month in which they should be considered.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
- Applicant must demonstrate their intention to study independently.
- Applicant must have at least a B+ or 3.4 CGPA.
- Applicant must provide college or high school grades on a transcript for all schools attended since ninth grade.
- Applicant can be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, tax resident, OR an International Student outside of the U.S. or U.S. territories.

Value of the Scholarship:
The successful candidates are awarded a tuition discount of up to 50%.
