The purpose of this scholarship is to support students in studying for an Honours or Master's degree in Economics or Political Science at the University of Canterbury. The scholarship was established in 1994 by a gift from Alan Gibbs.
Eligibility for the F A Hayek Scholarship in Economics or Political Science:
- The applicant may come from any nationality.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a program for a Master's or Honours degree in Economics or Political Science at the University of Canterbury
- The program must include a research component of at least 30 points.
- The potential of the student’s research (project/dissertation/thesis) to contribute to research in Economics or Political Science is given special consideration.
- The applicant must exhibit good academic standing.

Value of the Scholarship:
Successful applicants will receive an award worth $16,500.
