Tuition fee waiver | KU Leuven ASEAN Scholarship holders receive a full tuition fee waiver and pay only an annual administration fee. The rate for the 2025-2026 academic year will be announced in December 2024 (indication: the fee in 2024-2025 was €131,50). |
Scholarship coverage | The incoming student will receive a one-time allowance of €4,000 for the entirety of their programme at KU Leuven. |
Duration |
The tuition fee waiver is granted for the full duration of the programme (one academic year for a 60 ECTS Master's programme and two academic years for a 120 ECTS Master's programme). The €4,000 allowance is a one-time lump sum, granted at the start of the programme at KU Leuven. |
Study level: Master's programmes
Students who enrol in the following programmes for the academic year 2025-2026 are not eligible for the KU Leuven ASEAN Scholarship: preparatory programmes, bridging programmes and distance learning.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligible nationalities: Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam
Academic requirements:
- The student has a high standard of academic performance and potential. Excellent study results are reflected in a high Grade Point Average (GPA), as mentioned on the transcript of records.
- The previous degree(s) should have been obtained at a higher education institution outside Flanders. International students who have completed a credit mobility at a host Flemish higher education institution are still eligible for a KU Leuven ASEAN Scholarship.
Language requirements:
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate a good knowledge and command of English, regardless of the minimum score required by the programme. Accepted English language tests are:
- Online TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): minimum overall score of 94
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System): minimum overall score of 7
- Cambridge CPE (Cambridge Proficiency English): minimum level C2 warning
The language test must be taken before the 15 January application deadline. Language test results can be added after the deadline. info Students who have previously completed an English-taught programme in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America do not need to submit a certificate of English language proficiency.
Disqualifying conditions:
- Current enrolment: Students who are already enrolled at a Flemish higher education institution are not eligible. The only exception is for international students who, at the time of their scholarship application in the spring of 2025, are enrolled in a specific preparatory programme in order to start their Master’s programme in September 2025.
- Other scholarships: Students may not combine the KU Leuven ASEAN Scholarship with another scholarship paid by KU Leuven or an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
