The Amsterdam Merit Scholarship offers the chance for you and other foreign students desiring to do postgraduate work at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, to do so effectively and without encountering financial challenges. The University of Amsterdam (UvA) aims to attract the world’s brightest students to its international classrooms. Outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA can apply for an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (AMS).

Value: The Amsterdam merit scholarship covers mandatory tuition fees and, depending on your graduate program and course, living expenses ranging from €2,000 to €25,000. In addition, the scholarship offers discounts, price reductions, and bursaries to assist you in paying for all of your educational costs.
Eligibility: In order to be eligible for this scholarship, regardless of the course or program of study you offer, you must fulfill these requirements.
- Benefactor of other scholarships: The scholarship committee does not accept candidates who are benefactors of other European university scholarships
- Citizenship: To gain access to applying for this scholarship, you must be a citizen of any country except those from the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).
- Language Requirement: The primary language of communication is English, and you should be able to communicate effectively in it. If you are a non-English speaker, you are also required to have all your documents translated into English before applying.
- To be admitted, you must already have been accepted into a one-year full-time master’s degree program at the host university. This means you need to have received acceptance to enroll in the program.
- English Test Certificate: Provide English test scores (TOEFL or IELTS).
- Academic prowess: You must be someone with an excellent academic record and intellectual capacity.
