The Stipendium Hungaricum is the Hungarian Government’s most prestigious higher education scholarship program. Founded in 2013, it is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and managed by the Tempus Public Foundation. The scholarship aims to support the internationalization of Hungarian higher education and attract top international students from all around the world. Applicants are offered around 900 full degree programs, covering all higher education fields at all degree levels across dozens of Hungarian universities.

- Doctoral programs: HUF 140,000 (approx. EUR 355) for the first phase (4 semesters) and HUF 180,000 (approx. EUR 460) for the second phase.
- Accommodation Contribution: A free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000 (approx. EUR 100) per month towards rental costs.
- Medical Insurance: Health care services according to Hungarian legislation and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (approx. EUR 165) a year per person.
ELIGIBILITY
- Eligible Sending Partner: Applicants must be nominated by the responsible authorities of their home country (based on bilateral education agreements with Hungary).
- Academic Excellence: Possess an excellent academic track record and a strong letter of motivation.
- Language Proficiency: Meet the minimum language requirements set by the chosen host institution (e.g., English proficiency for English-taught programs).
- Health: Be in good health and provide a satisfactory medical certificate clearing the applicant of major infectious diseases.

- Contact your Sending Partner: Reach out to your local sending partner (e.g., Ministry of Education or local Hungarian Embassy) to understand their specific nomination requirements.
- Submit Online Application: Fill out the online application form entirely in English, accept the "Statement for Application", and upload all required documents (Diplomas, Transcripts, ID/Passport, Medical Certificate, and Language Proof) to the official portal.
