The ASEAN Master in Sustainability Management is the result of over 30 years of partnership between Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Indonesia and the University of Agder (UiA) in Norway. This initiative aligns with the strategic goals of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and aims to develop future sustainability leaders in the ASEAN region.

Financial Benefits
- The ASEAN Master in Sustainability Management is a full-scholarship program for 20 of the best applicants from ASEAN countries. This means that your acceptance into the program also includes the full scholarship. Applicants from Norway, however, will be subjected to tuition fees by the University of Agder.
Criteria for Application
- Candidates from ASEAN countries are eligible for the full scholarship. Priority is given to candidates from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste.
- Students from Norway or other non-ASEAN countries are also eligible to apply for a limited number of seats without a scholarship.
- Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an AUN-recognized university (except for Timor-Leste).
- Suitable academic backgrounds may be from economics, management, agricultural or forestry sciences, engineering, political science, geography, or law. Students with other relevant higher education qualifications may also apply.
- Applicants must submit proof of English language fluency (TOEFL or IELTS, or otherwise in agreement with recruiting universities).
- Applicants for stipends shall be maximum 30 years of age at the time of application.
Selection Process
- The lead host university, UGM, is responsible for the selection and admission process.
- Admission is competitive and based on grades. A weighted grade average is calculated from all the grades in the bachelor’s degree.
- Relevant work experience, up to 3 years, will count 10% per year of the total possible grade score.
