International students are welcome to apply at the University of Osaka for the fiercely competitive MEXT Scholarship, a fully financed initiative supported by the Japanese government. With this scholarship, outstanding students from all around the world can enroll in one of Japan’s top research universities to pursue undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees.
The scholarship, which is supported by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT), is offered via both university and embassy recommendations. ELIGIBILITY
- Must be a citizen of a country maintaining diplomatic relations with Japan (including Vietnam). Individuals holding Japanese citizenship at the time of application are not eligible to participate.

Undergraduate Level Age

Postgraduate Level (Master's / Doctoral)

- Doctoral Program: Master's degree holder (completed 18 years of formal education).
- Minimum GPA of 2.30/3.00 for the most recently completed degree, based on the MEXT conversion scale
- Language Proficiency Requirements (Must meet at least one of the following criteria): Japanese: JLPT N2 certification or higher. English: Proficiency equivalent to CEFR B2 level (approximately IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 72 or higher).
