Each full scholarship will cover up to:

• the full cost of the tuition fee (£37,200 international fee for 2026-27, £18,850 UK fee)
• maintenance grant (exact value at the UKRI postgraduate researcher stipend level to be determined for 2026-27; in 2025-26 it was £20,780)
• an additional £4,000 for travel costs (subject to valid economy class travel receipts)

To be considered for the David Sainsbury Scholarship UEA 2025, you must meet all these criteria:

• Be in receipt of an offer of a place on the UEA MSc in Global Plant Health
• You are a national of or domiciled in a least-developed, low-income, or lower-middle-income country or territory as defined by the Overseas Development Agency Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list, version 2026-27 for entry in 2026-27 academic year.
• There are a limited number of scholarships available and these will be awarded throughout the year, so you are advised to apply early.

To apply, candidates must be ready to submit the following documents;

• Application Form
• Academic transcripts
• Research results: Published thesis, award certificates, etc. to prove your academic achievements and research capabilities.
• Recommendation Letters
• Photocopy of Passport Photo Page/ National ID
• English proficiency certificate

• First, make sure you have received an offer to study on the MSc in Global Plant Health at the University of East Anglia. You must have this offer before you can be considered for the scholarship.

• Check your eligibility. For the full scholarship, you need to be from a least-developed, low-income, or lower-middle-income country as defined by the DAC list for 2026-27. If you don’t meet this, you may still qualify for the 50% fee scholarship if you are from an upper-middle or higher income country.

• Apply for your place on the MSc in Global Plant Health course before the deadline: May 30, 2026, for international students, and August 29, 2026, for UK students.

• You do not need to submit a separate application for the scholarship. Once you apply for the course and meet the eligibility criteria, you will be automatically considered.

• Your application will be assessed based on your academic achievements, relevant experience, and potential in areas like molecular biology, genetics, data science, and laboratory skills.
