Northumbria University UK Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarship 2025 is available to undertake Masters level programs at Northumbria University.
Following subject are available to study under this scholarship program.
- All Subjects
The Sanctuary Scholarship provides:
- 100% Tuition Fee Waiver for the full duration of the one-year Master’s program.
- A cash award of £3,000, paid as follows:
- 25% in November 2025
- 25% in February 2026
- 50% in May 2026
- Payments are made via the BACs system, and successful candidates will need to provide valid UK bank details for payment.
Note: The scholarship is available only for Full-Time one-year eligible courses studied at the Newcastle City Campus and Coach Lane Campus.
This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.
To qualify for the Sanctuary Scholarship 2025/26, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be currently seeking asylum in the UK or be the dependant, spouse, or civil partner of someone seeking asylum.
- Must provide evidence of current immigration status.
- Must have received a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time one-year Master’s course at Northumbria University, starting in September 2025.
- Must meet all course requirements, including English language competency.
- Must be residing in the North East of England (Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Northumberland, Cleveland, or North Cumbria) at the time of application.
- Must be unable to access UK student finance (tuition fee loans or maintenance loans) due to immigration status.
- Dependants, spouses, or civil partners must have had that relationship at the time of the asylum application. Dependent children or step-children must have been 18 or under when the asylum application was made.
Application Procedure
- Complete the Sanctuary Scholarship application form.
- Submit the application before 16:00 on Friday, 25 April 2025.
- Only applications from individuals residing in the UK will be considered.
Submit the following documents along with your application:
- Proof of immigration status
- Offer letter from Northumbria University
- Relevant supporting documents
- The selection process will include an interview.
- The scholarship selection process takes into account the application form, documentation, and interview performance.
- Successful candidates will be informed via email.
- Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
- The Sanctuary Scholarship is intended for students who are currently unable to access UK student finance due to their immigration status.
- The cash award will be paid only if the student remains fully registered on their course.
- If a student's immigration status changes, they must inform Northumbria University immediately.
- Recipients are not eligible for any other Northumbria University scholarships while holding the Sanctuary Scholarship.
- If the student defers or withdraws from their course, the scholarship will be revoked.
- The scholarship is granted for one academic year only.
