The International Academic Excellence Award is offered by Southeast Missouri State University for international students. Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time enrollment each semester and be able to demonstrate lawful presence in the US. Incoming students who have earned less than 24 credit hours of college credit are only eligible for freshmen awards, while those who have earned 24 or more credit hours are only eligible for transfer awards.

- June 1, 2026
Eligibility for the SEMO International Academic Excellence Award:
- Open to all international students
- Applicant must have a Southeast cumulative 3.0 GPA and completed 24 Southeast credit hours (may include Southeast summer hours).
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- iTEP / 3.9
- TOEFL iBT / 79
- PTE Academic / 53
- IELTS Academic / 6.5
- Duolingo English / 110
Application Process:
No separate application is necessary. All eligible applicants will be automatically considered for the scholarship.
Value:
- $8,000 ($4,000 fall and $4,000 spring)
Note:
The test score is waived if high school was done in a country where SEMO does not require an English proficiency test for admission, and the student has completed one of the following:
- O-levels (Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel, or Zimsec)
- IB (English-only curriculum)
- West African Examination Council
GPA is evaluated for scholarship purposes based on the highest level the applicant has completed at the time of application.
