1. Scholarship Summary

The East Tennessee State University Merit Scholarship 2025 offers:

• Financial awards ranging from $5,000 to $9,000 per year
• Automatic consideration — no separate application required
• Renewable funding for the duration of the degree (up to four years for undergraduates)
• Opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate international students
• Support for tuition fees, reducing the financial burden

Undergraduate Awards:

• Blue Scholarship: $5,000/year for GPA >3.0
• Gold Scholarship: $7,000/year for GPA >3.5
• Elite Scholarship: $9,000/year for GPA >3.75

Graduate Awards:

• Masters Merit Scholarship: $5,000/year for GPA >3.0
• Doctoral Merit Scholarship: $9,000/year for GPA >3.0

Applicants must:

• Be international students applying for undergraduate or graduate programs at ETSU
• Meet university admission requirements
• Have, or plan to obtain, an F-1 or J-1 student visa
• Possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher:
  • Freshmen: 3.0 GPA in high school
  • Transfer: 3.0 GPA in previous university coursework
  • Graduate: 3.0 GPA in undergraduate coursework
• Meet ETSU’s English language proficiency requirements (IELTS not mandatory if other proofs exist)

Prepare and submit the following documents with your admission application:

• Completed ETSU admission application form
• Academic transcripts (translated and certified if not in English)
• Proof of English language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, or waiver)
• Copy of passport
• Financial documentation for visa purposes
