Benefit
Each HKU Presidential PhD Scholar receives up to approximately HK$445,800 (US$57,150) in Year 1, and up to approximately HK$428,300 (US$54,920) in each subsequent year during the normative study period:
- Tuition Waiver: Full waiver of composition fees for the entire normative study period (HK$49,500/year).
- Postgraduate Scholarship: HK$28,700 per month.
- Cash Award: HK$40,000 in Year 1, and HK$20,000 per year for the remaining normative study period to support research and living expenses.
- Travel Allowance: HK$14,400 per year for conference and research-related travel.
- Accommodation: Guaranteed hall place in Year 1, with the possibility of renewal.
- Additional Study Support: Financial support for an additional year of study beyond the normative period for selected candidates demonstrating outstanding research output.
Eligibility
- Open to high-caliber global candidates passionate about research who apply for a full-time PhD programme at HKU.
- All applicants applying for full-time PhD studies are automatically considered.
- Applicants applying during the Main Round (September 1 – December 1) are strongly encouraged to apply concurrently for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS).
- Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview.
